PROG - PRODUCERS OF GERMANY: A new name for the future of film production
Berlin, 17 March 2025 - After five years of intensive association work, the producers' association is presenting itself under a new name: PROG - Producers of Germany. With this step, the members emphasise their continuous development and their role as creative and independent players in the German film industry.
PROG: A network for the future
"We are the producerwho love films and reinvent series," reads the association's press release. PROG stands for a community of over 150 members, made up of experienced and young producers from the film industry.together. They work together on films and series that not only celebrate success in cinemas and at international festivals, but also make their mark on streaming and television.
The association emphasises that PROG stands for both progressive and professional and is actively committed to a common community of values and a strong political voice in the industry. The producers emphasise their independence and self-determination as the cornerstones of their work. "We are for and not against a cause," explains PROG.
The role of PROG in the film landscape
By changing their name to PROG, the producers want to emphasise their clear position as a driving force in the German film industry and as an important network for independent cinema, streaming and television productions. The association is committed to representing the interests of its members on a national and international level, be it vis-Ã -vis funders, broadcasters, politicians or other industry associations.
Special attention is paid to supporting and promoting up-and-coming filmmakers. PROG offers a special young talent section that makes it easier for young talents to enter the industry and provides a breath of fresh air.
