On 23 May 2025, it was officially announced that the popular ARD crime series "Watzmann investigates" enters its seventh round. The new season comprises a total of eight episodes, which are once again set in the picturesque Berchtesgadener Land region. At the same time, the production of a 90-minute feature film with the working title "The tears of the Madonna".

Filming began on 13 May 2025 and will take place at original locations around the Watzmann and in Salzburg. Filming is expected to continue until late summer.

Over the years, the series "Watzmann ermittelt" has secured itself a firm place in the German crime thriller genre, not least thanks to the combination of exciting stories, the unique mountain backdrop and regional authenticity. The new season promises to continue this success story.

The feature film "The Tears of the Madonna" completes the programme with an intense, independent story, which is also set in the familiar Alpine region and will delight fans of the series.

The seventh season and the feature film are scheduled to be broadcast in autumn 2025.
