Berlin, 18 June 2025 - Former member of the Bundestag and Minister of State Michelle Müntefering will take over the management of the Alliance of German Producers - Film, Television and Audiovisual Media e.V. (Produktionsallianz) from 1 July 2025. She will also act as spokesperson for the entire board. The decision was made unanimously during a board meeting on 17 June.

Martin Wolff, member of the Executive Board, emphasises the importance of the appointment: "With Michelle Müntefering, we are gaining a high-profile cultural and film politician whose political clout and extensive network make her ideally suited to represent the interests of the industry and strengthen the film industry as a whole."

Müntefering himself sees the new task as a great opportunity and responsibility: "Producers make an important contribution to our cultural diversity and democracy. They are the creative backbone of the film industry." At the same time, she points out the challenges facing the industry: Germany must remain internationally competitive as a film location. Tax incentives and investment commitments are urgently needed to achieve this. The Production Alliance will actively accompany and support this change.

Michelle Müntefering was a member of the German Bundestag from 2013 to 2025. In her political career, she has held numerous positions in the field of cultural and media policy. Among other things, she was Minister of State for International Cultural Policy at the Federal Foreign Office and most recently film policy spokesperson for the SPD parliamentary group in the Bundestag.

Her move to the head of the Production Alliance is linked to the hope that the concerns of producers in Germany will gain greater political clout.
