Germany will be in the spotlight of the Nordic film and series world in 2026: at the upcoming Nordic Film Market and TV Drama Visionthe central industry events of the Gothenburg Film Festival IndustryGermany is recognised as Official Country in Focus presented. The announcement was made on 13 October and promises new impetus for cooperation between the German and Nordic audiovisual scenes.

A stage for German creativity and cooperation

Under the title "In Focus: Germany" a platform is being created in Gothenburg that brings together German producers, funding organisations and decision-makers - with the aim of strengthening synergies and promoting co-productions. The programme was developed in partnership with German Films and a number of leading German film funding organisations, including:

• FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (FFF Bayern)

• Film- und Medienstiftung NRW

• Hesse Film & Media

• Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg

• Central German Media Funding (MDM)

• MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein

• nordmedia - Film- und Mediengesellschaft Niedersachsen/Bremen

Together, these partners want to showcase the diversity of German talent and funding structures and lay the foundations for new international collaborations. A large German delegation will be represented in Gothenburg - with producers, projects and creative minds who will be the focus of the entire programme.

A central meeting place for the film and series industry

The Gothenburg Film Festival is regarded as the most important film festival in Scandinavia and attracts one of the largest festival audiences in the world every year. More than 2,400 trade visitors from over 50 countries use the event as a meeting point for the industry.

• Nordic Film Market (28-30 January 2026) focuses on outstanding new Nordic films and talents and offers a platform for international co-productions and networking.

• TV Drama Vision (27-28 January 2026) is dedicated to the latest trends in the series industry and brings together producers, creatives and decision-makers from all over the world.

The 49th Gothenburg Film Festival takes place from 23 January to 1 February 2026 with Germany at the centre of attention.
