The streaming service HBO Max is entering the German market through a strategic partnership with waipu.tv. At the official launch of HBO Max in Germany, the service will be available directly via waipu.tv's IPTV platform. This positions waipu.tv as one of the central distribution partners for Warner Bros. Discovery's new offering.

Customers can seamlessly integrate HBO Max into their existing TV and streaming set-up via waipu.tv. The service will be available both as a standalone subscription and as part of bundled offers. The aim of the cooperation is to maximise the reach of HBO Max at market launch and to make access as low-threshold as possible for users.

HBO Max brings an extensive portfolio of international series and film productions to Germany. This includes well-known HBO originals, content from the Warner catalogue and productions from the expanded Warner Bros. Discovery universe. With the launch in Germany, Warner Bros. Discovery is closing a gap in the European availability of the service.

For waipu.tv, the partnership is a further step in the expansion of its own platform model. The provider is increasingly positioning itself as an aggregator that bundles linear television, media libraries and international streaming services into a single offering. In an increasingly fragmented streaming market, such integration and bundling strategies are becoming more and more important.

Across the industry, the cooperation underlines the trend that international streaming providers are increasingly focussing on local platform partners instead of relying exclusively on direct individual subscriptions. For the German market, this means further intensification of competition among streaming services - both in terms of content as well as pricing and distribution models.
