The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has with Academy Studios founded a new production platform. The aim is to create digital content such as interviews, videos, podcasts and livestreams itself and thus strengthen the Academy's presence beyond the Oscars.

Jennifer Davidson became the Head of Academy Studios and at the same time to Chief Marketing, Communications and Content Officer has been promoted. She will be responsible for the Academy's digital content strategy and the development of the new unit.

The Academy emphasises that Academy Studios should both honour the cinematic past and develop new formats for a global audience. Experts see this as a step towards extending the reach of the Oscars brand and the Academy as a whole.
