Prime Video is expanding its offering in Germany and Austria: Thanks to a new multi-year partnership, the streaming service will secure exclusive streaming rights to Leonine Studios' cinema films in future. From current cinema hits to popular franchises - Prime subscribers can look forward to a wide range of high-quality content.

Prime Video and Leonine Studios are continuing their long-standing collaboration with a comprehensive licence agreement. All films that Leonine has released in cinemas in Germany and Austria since 1 January 2026 will be available exclusively in the pay-2 window on Prime Video for six months. The package is complemented by premium home entertainment titles and non-exclusive SVoD rights to selected catalogue films, including popular series such as Asterix and Obelix, John Wick and The school of magical animals.

The first current film under the new agreement is "The Housemaid - If she only knew"the most successful 2026 reboot in Germany to date. Other titles that will be available to watch on Prime Video in the coming months include "An almost perfect application", "The drama - back to square one", "Corpus Delicti" and the eagerly awaited prequel "The Tributes of Panem - Sunrise on the Reaping". The latter had already caused a stir before the cinema release, as the original book sold more than five million copies within a week of its publication.

Fred Kogel, CEO of Leonine Studios, emphasises the importance of continuing the partnership: "We are delighted to continue our successful collaboration with Prime Video in the coming years. The agreement, which includes our hit film 'The Housemaid' as the first film, underlines the confidence in the quality of our programme." Andreas Hartmann, Head of Licensing and Co-Production at Prime Video Germany, adds: "Leonine Studios is a valued licence partner for premium entertainment. With this agreement, we are bringing blockbusters and premium content exclusively to our customers and strengthening Prime Video as the leading streaming service for premium entertainment."

The agreement shows how important exclusive streaming rights have become for the exploitation of cinema films. For Prime Video, the deal means an expansion of its premium offering, while Leonine Studios benefits from a secure platform for its content and greater reach.
