The filming of the international young adult adaptation „Into the Deep Blue“ is currently being filmed in Ontario, Canada. The project is being directed by Jonathan Wright and will be realised by Constantin Film in an international production structure.

At the centre of the adaptation is the German actor Damian Hardung, who is taking on his first major leading role in an international production. Hardung, known from the hit series „Maxton Hall“, is thus expanding its presence in the global streaming and film market.

Next to him are Sara Waisglass („Ginny & Georgia“) and Erika Prevost („The Boys“) are already part of the confirmed ensemble. Further international names have now been added to the cast: Luke Macfarlane („Platonic“), Samantha Brown („From“), Bryce Wynter („The Handmaid's Tale“) and the experienced actor Colm Feore („The Umbrella Academy“, „Landman“).

The film was written by author Jennifer Archer, who is also responsible for the screenplay. Her novel was published in 2025 and tells the story of two best friends whose relationship falters during a road trip when they have to choose between emotional security and romantic development.

The film is being produced by Michael Baker together with Jennifer Archer and director Jonathan Wright. Constantin Film is involved as co-producer and financing partner, represented by Oliver Berben and Robert Kulzer. Other production partners include Bunk 11 Pictures and north.five.six.

In industry circles, the project is seen as part of a growing strategy to develop internationally marketable young adult material with a strong IP background. Constantin Film is thus once again positioning itself in a segment that is in particularly high demand from streaming platforms.

With „Into the Deep Blue“ the company is focusing on a mixture of romantic coming-of-age drama, international ensemble casting and a clear target group approach - a model that is increasingly characterising the global production market.
