The international conference for animation, VFX and digital media production FMX in Stuttgart will have new management from 2027: Agon Ushaku will take on the role of Project Manager. He succeeds Mario Mueller, who has shaped and developed the event over many years.
The official handover will take place during the current 30th edition of the conference, where Mueller will introduce his successor and familiarise him with the tasks ahead. The change in leadership will thus be accompanied at an early stage to ensure continuity in the organisation of the internationally established industry event.
Ushaku has extensive experience in the CGI and VFX industry. He has worked in production, management and education for more than 25 years. He currently works as Global Director of Nomination Events at the Visual Effects Society (VES) and as curator of the international Megabrain Masterclass series.
For Mario Mueller, the change marks the end of many years of work for FMX. In a statement, he emphasises the personal significance of the conference and refers to the creative community that has shaped the event over the years. At the same time, he expressed his confidence in his successor, who will continue the further development of FMX with a new perspective.
Ushaku himself also sees his new role as closely linked to his professional career. He describes FMX as a central platform for his professional network and emphasises the importance of the event for the international VFX and CGI community. In particular, he sees the development of new technologies such as AI and real-time workflows as key challenges for the coming years.
The aim is to continue to position FMX as one of the leading international conferences for digital storytelling and at the same time to focus more strongly on new technological developments.
FMX 2026 will take place from 5 to 7 May in Stuttgart and will then be extended online and on demand. Agon Ushaku will already be a speaker on the „Ethics in AI“ panel there.
