Norddeutscher Rundfunk is currently producing a new episode of *TATORT* starring Wotan Wilke Möhring as Federal Police Chief Inspector Thorsten Falke. Under the working title „Paranoia“ In Hamburg, another case arises for the veteran detective, who, together with cybercrime investigator Mario Schmitt – played by Denis Moschitto – is investigating a mysterious death. The programme is scheduled to be broadcast on Das Erste in 2027.

The plot centres on the death of investigative journalist Steffen Radetzky. He dies unexpectedly after a book reading; officially, the cause of death is a heart attack. However, his widow, Tanja Radetzky – played by Silke Bodenbender – doubts this diagnosis and asks Falke for help. The investigation leads Falke and Schmitt on the trail of tampered medication, a missing manuscript and suspected surveillance networks. As the case unfolds, the detectives themselves become the focus of a mysterious organisation, whilst the lines between a real threat and possible paranoia become increasingly blurred.

Thomas Stiller is responsible for the script and direction. Alongside Möhring, Moschitto and Bodenbender, the cast includes Alma Leiberg, Nele Mueller-Stöfen, Anja Herden, Karsten Antonio Mielke, Hans-Martin Stier, Verena Wolfien and Till Huster, amongst others.

„Paranoia“ is being produced by Hamburg-based LETTERBOX FILMPRODUKTION on behalf of NDR for ARD. Katinka Seidt and Wiebke Andresen are the producers. Marc Liesendahl is the director of photography. Marcus Kreuz is the line producer, whilst Daniel Buresch is the production manager for NDR and Ulrike Zirzow for LETTERBOX. Patrick Poch is the editor at NDR.

With this new episode, NDR continues the successful Falke series, which has been an integral part of the TATORT universe for more than a decade. In terms of content, „Paranoia“ tackles current issues such as disinformation, surveillance and social mistrust, combining them with classic crime drama elements. For the Hamburg production base, the shoot also marks another high-profile television commission within public service primetime drama.

Filming is currently taking place in Hamburg and the surrounding area. An exact broadcast date has not yet been announced
