At its regular election, the ZDF Television Council re-elected the existing Executive Committee. The Chair remains Gerda Hasselfeldt, who received 43 out of 46 valid votes.

The existing deputy chairpersons were also re-elected: Katrin Kroemer remains First Deputy Chair, whilst Dr Claudia Conen and Christoph Becker also retain their positions on the Executive Committee.

Following her re-election in Mainz, Hasselfeldt emphasised the role of the committee in the current media landscape. The ZDF Television Council stated that „in these turbulent times, there is a greater need than ever for critical yet constructive oversight“ and, at the same time, supports the implementation of the provisions set out in the Reform Treaty.

The Television Council comprises a total of 60 members from various sections of society. Its key responsibilities include monitoring the range of programmes on offer, approving the budget adopted by the Administrative Board, and electing the ZDF’s Director-General. The term of office for the Television Council is four years; that of the Executive Committee is two years.

By confirming the current management team, the board is prioritising institutional continuity at a time of ongoing debate about the reform of public service broadcasting in Germany.
