The Costume House Alliance, founded just under two years ago, has reported its first successful results. According to the organisation, this European network of leading costume houses has already supported more than 50 film and television series productions with costumes, expertise and services.

The alliance was founded in early 2025 by four renowned European costume service providers: Angels Costumes from London, Sastrería Cornejo from Madrid, Theaterkunst from Berlin, and Tirelli Trappetti Costumi dal 1964 from Rome. The aim of the alliance is to provide productions and costume designers with easier access to the extensive costume collections and expertise of all the participating companies.

For international film productions, this collaboration means closer integration of resources: rather than contacting individual costume houses in different countries separately, production and costume teams gain more centralised access to historical and contemporary costumes, as well as to specialist services, through the alliance.

Productions that have already made use of the network include, amongst others, „Amadeus“ (costume design: Lisa Duncan), „Nuremberg“ (costume design: Bartholomew Cariss), „Chopin, Chopin“ (costume design: Justyna Stolarz and Magdalena Biedrzycka) and „Schwarzes Gold“ (costume design: Mirjam Muschel).

The involvement of the Berlin theatre community is particularly significant for the German film industry. The company is one of Europe’s most established costume houses and brings its collection and the experience it has gained from numerous international film and television productions to the alliance.

The Costume House Alliance sees itself as a response to the increasing internationalisation of film production. By pooling costume collections and specialist expertise, the aim is to make European production locations more attractive and to facilitate collaboration between creative professionals and specialist service providers.
