A change in leadership is imminent at the Association of Technical Services for Film and Television (VTFF). After twelve years as Chairman of the Board, Stefan Hoff is stepping down from his post on 31 July 2026. Hoff has served the industry association for a total of 16 years. Until the scheduled board elections in May 2027, board member Andrea Brüggemann will take over as spokesperson and coordinate the board’s work.
With this change in leadership, the VTFF says it is focusing on continuity. Brüggemann is already a member of the Executive Board, where he heads the Human Resources group. The association announced that it would continue on its current path of modernisation and continue to address key challenges facing the film and television industry.
During his tenure, Hoff played a key role in shaping the development of the VTFF. Key projects include the introduction of a Code of Conduct, the initiative for the study „Service Providers for Audiovisual Media, Part 2“, and the expansion of the association to include companies from the fields of outside broadcasting, visual effects (VFX) and other technical disciplines. Furthermore, under his leadership, the membership base has almost tripled.
The association cites, amongst other things, technological change in the film and television industry, safeguarding the international competitiveness of technical and creative service providers, and media policy issues as key priorities for the future. In the coming months, the VTFF intends to devote particular attention to the draft bill from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) on the reform of the legal framework for self-employment.
Stefan Hoff cited his move into a consultancy role as the reason for his resignation. In his view, the association’s interests could only be represented effectively if close involvement in the day-to-day operations of the industry were guaranteed. By stepping down early, he hoped to facilitate an orderly reorganisation of the Executive Board.
The VTFF represents technical and creative service providers in the film, television and AV sectors across Germany. Its members include companies specialising in camera and lighting hire, sound and studio technology, post-production, virtual production, VFX, props and outside broadcasting.
