Amazon MGM Studios has signed a multi-year first-look deal with British producer David Heyman and his production company, Heyday Films. Under the terms of the agreement, Amazon MGM will have first access to the film projects that Heyman develops and produces during the term of the deal.
The new contract follows on from Heyman’s long-standing collaboration with Warner Bros., where the producer had a non-exclusive first-look deal for around three decades. Among other projects, Heyman produced all the „Harry Potter“ films and the three „Fantastic Beasts“ films for the studio. His other successful productions include Greta Gerwig’s „Barbie“, Paul King’s „Wonka“ and Alfonso Cuarón’s „Gravity“.
The next „James Bond“ film is not part of the new agreement. Heyman is producing the project alongside Amy Pascal for Amazon MGM Studios. Denis Villeneuve is directing.
Heyman’s current projects also include the new „Harry Potter“ series for HBO. Apart from his collaboration with Warner Bros., Heyman has also worked as a producer on the „Paddington“ films for Studiocanal, amongst other things.
With the new ‘first-look’ deal, Amazon is forging closer ties with MGM, one of the world’s most successful film producers, and gaining early access to its future film projects.
