Yoko Higuchi-Zitzmann and AI filmmaker Mark Wachholz have founded DREAMKITE Studios. The new production company, based in Munich and Berlin, aims to develop feature films, high-end series and IP-based short-form content, combining generative AI with traditional production methods. Variety reports on the studio’s launch.
At its heart lies a hybrid approach in which AI technologies are integrated into creative and production processes. At the same time, DREAMKITE relies on collaboration with established directors, actors and other creative talent. The founders’ aim is to establish a European studio that develops its own IP and combines AI-supported production models with traditional storytelling.
Several projects are already in development at the outset. These include the near-future thriller *Céremony* and the political thriller *The Day the World Prayed*, both under the creative direction of Wachholz. Also in the pipeline are the superheroine series „Blake“ by Shamila Lengsfeld and a hybrid adaptation of the bestseller „The Colour of Stars“ by Curtis Briggs and Stefan Lukschy. The latter project will combine AI-generated elements with live-action footage featuring professional actors.
With its launch, DREAMKITE is positioning itself at the intersection of film production, technology and IP development. For Higuchi-Zitzmann and Wachholz, the aim is also to harness European creative and technological expertise for new production models. According to the company, its long-term goal is to build up its own IP library and utilise generative AI as a tool within professional film and series production.
