The next submission deadlines for the Creative Europe MEDIA programme have been set for 2026 and 2027. Producers can apply for funding for, amongst other things, the development of European film and series projects, as well as for TV and online productions. For distributors, international sales agents and other market participants, funding streams are available for distribution, sales and new business models.
The programme kicks off on 1 December 2026 with the „European Slate Development“ call for proposals. A total of 22.4 million euros is available for this. Funding will be awarded to between three and five projects per application, including feature films, animated films and documentaries, as well as series and immersive projects. Depending on the project, development costs of between €30,000 and €100,000 may be claimed.
For „TV and Online Content“, two submission deadlines are scheduled for 2027: 10 February and 15 September. The funding budget amounts to 23.3 million euros. Support is available for international TV and streaming productions in the fields of animation, documentary and fiction.
Other dates include, amongst others, „European Co-Development“ (2 March), „Films on the Move“ (21 January and 15 July), „European Film Distribution“ (8 April), „European Film Sales“ (17 June) and „Audience Development and Film Education“ (2 March).
2027 is the final year of the current Creative Europe programme. The European Commission is allocating €402 million to the programme as a whole for the coming year, before the next funding cycle begins with AgoraEU. Under the MEDIA strand, the aim is, amongst other things, to further strengthen cross-border development and production, as well as distribution and new business models.
