Studio Babelsberg has launched its first masterclass on artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual production. Over the course of several months, five film and TV series projects will explore how these technologies can be integrated into professional production workflows.

The selected films were „Ins Reich“ by seven200 AI Studios and red sun films, „Oval“ by Fireglory Pictures, „Otherland“ by Mount Devil, „Conspiracy“ by Dynamic Television (seven200 AI Studios) and „Grisella“ by Ninety-Minute Film (Milkyway Films).

Studio Babelsberg is making its technical infrastructure for hybrid film productions available to the initiative. Plans include trailers, pilot sequences and materials for presentations and feasibility studies, which are intended to support further project development, international marketing and financing. At the same time, technical, creative, legal and ethical standards for the use of AI-supported production processes are to be developed.

VFX specialist Marc Weigert will be in charge of the programme. The masterclass is funded by the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg with support from the Brandenburg Ministry of Economic Affairs. The materials produced as part of the programme are due to be completed by spring 2027.
