Sasha Bühler is to become Head of German Originals at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios Germany with effect from 1 December. She succeeds Philip Pratt and will be responsible for the development, commissioning and release of German original productions.
Bühler is joining from Netflix, where she worked for seven years, most recently as Content Director for Film DACH. Prior to that, she headed the Acquisitions and International Co-Productions division at Constantin Film. Her appointment strengthens Amazon’s creative leadership for the German market.
The productions in the German Prime Video portfolio include, amongst others, „Maxton Hall – The World Between Us“, „The Tiger“ and „LOL: Last One Laughing“. Announced projects also include „Superior“ by Franziska Margarete Hoenisch, „Der erste letzte Tag“ by Stefan Bühling and „The Prototype“ by Dennis Gansel.
Bühler will report to Tara Erer, Director of Northern European Originals, UK Unscripted & Film. This change comes against the backdrop of competition amongst streaming services for local content and established creative talent. For German production companies, this appointment is particularly significant in view of the future development and commissioning of originals by Prime Video.
