According to Spot media & news The television industry can look back on a good performance in terms of gross advertising revenue in July, with year-on-year growth of 8.3 per cent.

The market researchers from Nielsen have published the latest gross advertising revenue figures for July in Germany. According to the figures, the TV sector achieved EUR 1.098 billion, which corresponds to an increase of 8.3 per cent compared to the previous year (July 2023: EUR 1.007 billion). It is also an increase on the previous month of June, in which growth weakened somewhat year-on-year to 5.4 per cent.

For the year as a whole, the TV sector stands at EUR 8.777 billion in gross advertising revenue, which corresponds to strong growth of 11 per cent (2023: EUR 7.907 billion). However, the combined percentage figure in June was still 11.3 per cent. The last three months, which are traditionally the strongest, will be decisive for the outcome of the advertising year 2024 anyway.

Across all media categories, gross advertising revenue has now grown by 9.4 per cent compared to the very weak previous year. The television sector therefore continues to slightly outperform other media categories such as newspapers and radio.
