As part of Content London 2024, ZDF and BBC Studios, the BBC's production and distribution subsidiary, have now announced the extension and expansion of their strategic partnership.
"The highest quality and best possible entertainment for our audience is the goal of the trusting collaboration between BBC Studios and ZDF," said Jasmin Maeda, Head of International Fiction at ZDF. ZDF press release. "We have been successfully realising innovative and award-winning projects together since 2019. We are proud of the continuation and expansion of this cooperation and would like to continue to inspire our viewers with the continuation of already successful series and the premiere of new programmes," Maeda continues.
Following the recent announcement of a second season of the young adult series "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder", which ZDFneo, BBC and Netflix are realising together with the production company Moonage Pictures, a new multi-year agreement provides for the intensification of the collaboration between the two partners, which has been in place since 2019. In addition to "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder", ZDF will initially co-produce a third season of the British crime series "The Chelsea Detective". In the area of licences, ZDF and ZDFneo can offer further seasons of successful BBC titles such as "Death in Paradise", "Beyond Paradise" and "The Outlaws" in the ZDFmediathek and as free TV premieres in the German-speaking TV market.
