The ARD confirms in its Press release The German Federal Film Board is maintaining its commitment as a reliable partner to the German film industry and will continue its extensive film funding programme in 2025. The long-standing, successful collaboration with the German Federal Film Board (FFA) under the Film/Television Agreement will therefore continue.

This year, ARD is once again supporting the FFA with around 9.3 million euros, thus voluntarily making a significantly higher contribution to film funding than required by law. This ensures stability and planning security for the industry.

In what is now the 15th film/television agreement, ARD once again undertakes to voluntarily increase the statutory film levy to a total of 5.5 million euros. A significant innovation is the first-time redistribution in favour of joint productions, whose funding will be increased to 4.8 million euros. This will ensure that these funding contributions from the public broadcasters are more closely related to the programme. In addition, ARD will again provide media services worth 1.5 million euros in 2025.

In addition to nationwide film funding, regional support also plays a key role. In many federal states, strong regional film funding has been established in recent years, in which numerous ARD broadcasters participate. Together, they continue to invest around 40 million euros in regional film and media funding organisations. The framework conditions are determined by the respective state legislation. This means that a total of around 50 million euros per year flows from broadcasting licence fees into the federal and state film funding institutions.

With this ongoing commitment, ARD is reaffirming its role as a central player in the German film industry and will continue to focus on stability, cooperation and sustainable funding in 2025.
