The election of three new members to the Board of Directors of the German Federal Film Board (FFA) scheduled for 5 June 2025 has been removed from the Bundestag's agenda at the request of the coalition parliamentary groups. The joint election proposal by the CDU/CSU, SPD and AfD (printed matter 21/336) was originally to be voted on as part of agenda item 12. The AfD parliamentary group abstained from the vote on the cancellation.

The background to the decision was widespread criticism of the planned nomination of AfD MP Ronald Gläser. Together with Melanie Bernstein (CDU/CSU) and Martin Rabanus (SPD), Gläser had been proposed as a new member of the Administrative Board. Anja Weisgerber (CDU/CSU), Martin Erwin Renner (AfD) and Nancy Faeser (SPD) were proposed as deputy members.

There had previously been public protest against the inclusion of an AfD candidate in the committee. Citizens had called for the election to be removed from the agenda via social networks and in direct appeals to members of parliament. In particular, the initiatives criticised the AfD's attempt to influence central cultural funding institutions.

The German Federal Film Board (FFA) is responsible for awarding funding in the German film industry. Three of the 36 members of the Board of Directors are delegated by the German Bundestag. With the cancellation of the election, these seats remain vacant for the time being.

A new election date has not yet been announced.
