The application quota for the German Film Fund (DFFF) and the German Motion Picture Fund (GMPF) for 2026 was already exhausted in August. The German Federal Film Board (FFA) has therefore stopped accepting further applications for projects due to start filming in 2026.

The GMPF has reached its planned funding allocation of 30 million euros. Consequently, no further applications can be accepted for projects due to start filming this year. The FFA would like to point out that, once the maximum funding volume has been reached, even incomplete applications can no longer be submitted or accepted.

Following an amendment to the procedure, applications were most recently processed in the order in which they were received in full. Among other things, the application process required a complete set of application documents and proof that at least 45 per cent of the funding had been secured.

For projects due to start filming in 2027, it is expected that applications will once again be accepted via the FFA service portal from November 2026. The FFA will provide further details on the specific application procedure at a later date.
