The Motion Picture Association (MPA), headed by Charles Rivkin, welcomes a new member to its ranks: Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios joins the umbrella organisation as its seventh member on 1 October.
As the MPA announced, this is the second new member in the term of office of MPA CEO Charles Rivkin: Netflix joined in 2019. The other members are Paramount, Sony, Universal, Walt Disney and Warner.
"The MPA is the global voice for a growing and evolving industry. The addition of Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios to our ranks will expand our collective efforts to make policy decisions and protect content on behalf of our most innovative and creative companies," said Charles Rivkin. "MPA studios fuel local economies, create jobs, enrich culture and strengthen communities everywhere they operate. With Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios joining our ranks of exceptional members, the MPA will have an even greater voice for the world's best storytellers."
"Amazon's mission is to entertain customers around the world with captivating films and TV shows. To do this, we must support creators while helping to maintain a robust entertainment industry that works for both studios and our creative partners," said Mike Hopkins, Head of Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios. "We are proud to join the MPA and its member studios in their collective efforts to protect creators, content and consumers worldwide."
Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios has been working with the association as a board member of the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), the world's leading anti-piracy coalition, since 2017. MGM was also a member of the association from 1928 to 2005.
