The European understanding of democracy is gone. With President Trump, hard-line interest politics for a small circle of "privileged people" is moving into the so-called West. A system previously more familiar in the East, "advanced democracies". Territories and formal definitions are increasingly being replaced by the management of interests and opportunities. The global elite know each other very well. They send their children to the same elite universities and holiday in the same luxury resorts. For the global economy, personal relationships at all levels are becoming even more crucial, especially when conditions that were thought to be stable change at short notice. Business operations continue, here as well as in the USA and the rest of the world. Direct dialogue is becoming increasingly important for our niche industry for international business relationships.
The USA (among others) had already given security guarantees to Ukraine in 1994. The quid pro quo was the surrender of nuclear weapons to Russia - the practical end of the Cold War. We are now experiencing a backflip, by our ally in America of all places. Turning away from the rules-based international order has an impact on predictability and stability. Conditions that we know very well from the recent past. The consequences are particularly precarious for traditional companies with a previously secure economic situation. Agility and flexibility increase resilience and the ability to Antifragility. The latter in particular describes the "learning curve", i.e. the increase in expertise in dealing with unforeseen events.
Learning from experience and from others in exchange. This is a concept that is part of everyday life in film production due to strictly project-oriented organisational forms and conceptual manufacturing business in large teams. Similar companies in other sectors of the economy often produce in very small organisational units or develop process-based organisations in the medium term. The inevitable structure in film production increases expertise for unpredictable times like these.
Networking events at festivals emphasise the need for exchange. Internationally, however, there are few formats and programmes for a sustainable transfer of know-how. The established film industry delegation trip to the USA is regularly repeated. This pleases us, but limits the capacity for new participants. This year, we are therefore planning an American delegation trip to Europe in addition to the trip to the USA. With selected US executives, we will visit target companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in the autumn. Further information will follow here in the newsletter and on ensider.de.
Feedback from you, our readers and partners, often relates to our positive outlook and solution-orientated ideas. Especially in times of inflationary polycrises, we would like to support you with practical tips. In the fifth decade of the company's history, "know, know, meet" continues to characterise all our activities. This is made possible by your support and the companies that characterise our location with their investments. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our long-standing partners who make conferences, networking events and the development of the media centre possible - and invite new partners to find out about cooperation models.
Yours Markus Vogelbacher - and the Ensider:Team
