Greg Hessinger, former Executive Director of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), is taking over as head of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). He will lead collective bargaining for major Hollywood studios, including the Directors Guild of America (DGA), the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and SAG-AFTRA. Hessinger said he was "honoured to take on this role at a pivotal time for the industry". The AMPTP praised his ability to bring parties together and his experience on both sides of the negotiating table. Jeff Ruthizer, former VP of labour relations at ABC, described Hessinger as a "strong negotiator", while SAG-AFTRA negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland described him as "experienced" with "extensive industry knowledge".
Hessinger succeeds Carol Lombardini, who has headed the AMPTP since 2009 and now remains active as a consultant. She emphasised that Hessinger is the right person to unite the industry and create opportunities.
The new head of AMPTP will take office on 14 April. He began his career at CBS in the 1990s, later worked for AFTRA and SAG and was most recently Chairman of the law firm Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp. At the same time, the DGA has appointed Jon Avnet and Karen Gaviola as chairs of the negotiating committee for the 2026 collective bargaining negotiations. Union President Lesli Linka Glatter emphasised the importance of the upcoming round of negotiations.
