Experienced German producers Michael Polle and Mischa Hofmann have launched a new production company, Polle & Hofmann Pictures GmbH. The partnership is based on two decades of collaboration, which began with the production of Crime Scene: Streets of Berlin took.
Mischa Hofmann remembers: "Since 2005, when Michael joined Hofmann & Voges Streets of Berlin we have stayed in touch." Now is the right time to realise projects together again, as they share a similar vision of production and creative work. "For us, independence is paramount, as is a focus on content and creative partners," emphasises Hofmann. Their focus is on close relationships with exceptional talent and on quality rather than quantity. "We want to be the first port of call for partners who share our attitude."
Michael Polle describes the founding of the company as the realisation of a long-cherished dream: to create a "home for creatives" in which stories are created that cross boundaries and touch people emotionally. Production is to take place for both film and cinema formats.
Mischa Hofmann founded the company Hofmann & Voges Entertainment GmbH together with Philip Voges back in 1996, which was taken over by Odeon Film AG in 2007. Until recently, Hofmann was managing director of the parent company and was responsible for over 200 TV and cinema productions, including films such as Erkan & Stefan, Where is Fred? and John Rabe and series such as Turkish for beginners, Spy City and The seed.
Michael Polle started as a producer at Bavaria Film GmbH in 2005, moved to Hofmann & Voges in 2007 and then to the renowned producer pool X Filme Creative Pool in 2010, where he was most recently Managing Director. His successes include the multi-award-winning series Babylon Berlin, Crime Scene - The Truth and Wish children. He became internationally known through productions such as the series Furia (NOR) and most recently the German-Danish co-production Other People's Moneywhich was shown at the Berlinale.
In addition to his work as a producer, Polle is deputy chairman of the TV section of the German Producers' Association.
