The German Directors' Association (BVR) has elected a new board at its annual general meeting. The committee, which represents the interests of directors in Germany, will be made up of seven members in future. Elected were Sebastian Hilger, Florian Gärtner, Niels Laupert, Florian Froschmayer, Silke Winter, Susan Gordanshekan and Elisabeth Mayer.

The association explained that the newly elected board members wanted to "clearly position" the role of directing in the creative process of filmmaking. In the coming years, among other things, the Strengthening directors in terms of film policy and contentthe enforcement of Equal rightsa Sustainable promotion of young talentfair opportunities for all age groups in the awarding of directing contracts and the further development of common remuneration rules.

The following were elected as substitute members of the Executive Board Thomas Brinck, Silke C. Engler, Claudia Garde, Christian Köhler, Mira Thiel and Nina Wels elected. The General Meeting also thanked the departing members of the Board of Directors - including Henning Beckhoff and Franziska Pohlmann - for their work over the past few years.

With the new Board of Directors, the BVR aims to further consolidate its position as an important lobby organisation for directors in the German film and television industry.
