The planned takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery by Paramount Skydance continues to be the focus of the US antitrust authorities. The US Department of Justice has made it clear that the review of the multi-billion dollar deal will not be accelerated for political reasons.

Omeed Assefi, deputy head of the ministry's antitrust department, explained in an interview with Reutersthat the review of the deal would "under no circumstances" be accelerated due to political considerations. The authority assures a thorough, independent and fair review.

Paramount accepted a takeover bid for Warner Bros. Discovery in February. The US authorities are now examining whether the merger is permissible under antitrust law. Analysts are watching the proceedings closely, as the decision could have far-reaching consequences for the structure of the entertainment industry.
