Bavarian cinemas invest significantly in 2026 more deeply in their Houses. According to figures from FFF Bavaria flow a total of 4.3 million euros this year towards the modernisation of 43 cinemas. Last year, the figure was 1.9 million euros. FFF Bavaria is increasing its grants accordingly from 557,000 euros to around 1.2 million euros.

Funding is available for up to 30 per cent of the investment costs. The measures range from laser projectors and sound equipment to new Heating and ventilation systems up to Photovoltaics, LED lighting and new seating. The refurbishment, too, is supported by foyers and catering areas. Six cinemas will each receive the maximum grant amount of 100,000 euros.

At the same time FFF Bavaria has Conditions for cinema investment funding have been amended. Since On 1 July 2026, the profit threshold under the prosperity clause is 300,000 Euro instead of the previous 200,000 euros. This means that the group of cinemas eligible to apply is to be expanded.

The application deadlines are also changing: From the 2027 funding year the annual submission deadline will be brought forward from 30 June to 31 March. For In 2026/27, a Transitional arrangements.
