This year’s TeleVisionale – Weimar Film and Series Festival will focus on the economic and technological changes in the German film and television industry during its industry days. From 23 to 27 November 2026, the programme in Weimar will cover not only media policy issues but, in particular, artificial intelligence, new forms of storytelling and the future of TV and streaming production.
One key focus is the state of the German manufacturing sector. Michelle Müntefering, Managing Director of the Production Alliance, will present the findings of the autumn 2026 survey. In a further panel on film policy, the industry association will discuss how AI is already changing film production and what framework conditions will be required for its use in the future.
Other events will focus on new production and financing models, data-driven content development, and the commercial potential of animated productions for adults. The growing importance of verticals and micro-dramas, and their impact on series production, are also on the agenda.
Furthermore, the Industry Days focus on the future of public service broadcasting and the development of Central Germany as a production hub. Among other things, they address the visibility of East German stories in national television programming and the prospects for regional production companies.
Among the announced highlights are a showcase by Sons of Motion Pictures and ParaLightWorx on the use of more than 100 AI tools in conjunction with virtual production for the film project „Pazifikwüste“ as well as the presentation of the fifth and final series of „Babylon Berlin“ by director and producer Tom Tykwer and producer Uwe Schott.
TeleVisionale is organised by the German Academy of Performing Arts and 3sat. The public industry days are free to attend.
