The Austrian Film Institute (ÖFI) has published its Film industry report 2024 and reports a historic peak in funding: A total of 164.6 million euros to producers and projects.
Promotion programmes as a driver of growth
The new conveyor belts in particular ÖFI+ and FISAplus have contributed to this increase. They are increasingly focussing on location promotion in order to increase production volumes, value creation and international competitiveness.
In detail, in the 2023 funding year, almost 115 million euros in funding, an increase of 30.5 % compared to 2022.
Who benefits? Kinfilm dominates
The majority of the funds went to the Film productionProduction accounted for over 82 % of disbursements.
For cinema films in 2023, around 48 million euros 17 % more than in the previous year.
Television films received just under 31 million eurosan increase of 82 % compared to 2022.
The median production costs for national cinema feature films were as follows 2.6 million euros; Documentary films showed 460,000 euros on.
Economic development
The ÖFI report also shows that the domestic film industry has a Stable economic development recorded: Revenues and earnings in 2023 totalled 1.73 billion eurosvalue added increased to 916 million euros - an increase of 28 % since 2021.
